Protein Bar Recipe

Trying to eat healthily at every meal can be difficult, especially on the run. For convenience, as well as to save for money, homemade protein bars that have good nutritional profiles can be used, either as a snack or to replace a meal. Here is a recipe that we tried and tested. Try it! The bars can be kept for about a week with refrigeration.

Baked Meal Replacement Bars

Ingredients:

1 cup raw oatmeal
4 scoops chocolate or vanilla protein powder
0.25 cup natural peanut butter
0.5 cup non-fat dry milk powder [do not add any water to this]
2 egg whites, beaten
0.5 cup raisins
0.25 cup water

  1. Mix all ingredients [except water] together in a large bowl
  2. Slowly add water to mixture
  3. Spray a 9x9 square pan with cooking spray
  4. Pour batter in pan and spread as best as you can [Be patient. Batter
  5. very gooey].
  6. Bake in a preheated 160 degrees C. oven for about 15 minutes
  7. Let it cool slightly & cut into 8 bars.

Nutritional value per bar:
Calories: 249
Proteins: 24g
Carbohydrates: 24g.
Fats: 6g
