Nadya - Pilates Instructor

I am a Pilates Instructor but I prefer to call myself a Movement Therapist.  My job is to equip my clients with tools and knowledge on how they can carry themselves effectively, efficiently, but most importantly, PAINLESSLY.
Besides understanding the needs and goals of my clients and working closely with their other therapists, my work is to EDUCATE.  Educate my clients how to perform their activities of daily living properly and safely.  Correct improper posture, faulty body mechanics and muscle imbalances.  Teach the proper breathing techniques and exercises.  Provide exercises techniques that are mobile, simple, safe, useful and relevant to my clients.
Using the Pilates Method, the Integrative Corrective Exercise Techniques, Strength and Flexibility Training Exercises and many other tools coupled with my experiences in fitness training and body work, I plan simple tailored made programmes for my clients.  Of course, I do factor in the client’s goals to all the programmes.
My clients have various needs.  Some require rehabilitative programmes like alleviating back pain, correcting body misalignments, recovering from sports injury or past trauma, rehabilitating from conditions like frozen shoulders, arthritis, slipped disc and many more.  Some are keen to learn exercises and movement to reduce the probability of being hurt due to the type of work they are doing.  There also a handful of people who are interested to strengthen, stretch and correct themselves so they can perform better in their game and reduce the chance of injuring themselves like golfers, rugby players, dancers, gym goers and many more.  And not forgetting, a handful of them who just want to look good and feel good.  A good posture and a strong body do give one a confidence boost.  Because you are able to move around with strength, grace and ease.
The aim of the programme is to:

  1. RELIEVE body aches and pain
  2. RECOVER proper body alignments and movement
  3. REBUILD muscle imbalances
  4. REFRESH the mind
  5. REDISCOVER a new sense of BODY AWARENESS

But above all, I wish that I am able to provide my clients with some ability to take better care of their bodies.  Because they only born with one.  With that ability, they can perform at their possible best, effectively, efficiently, safely and painlessly.
