FAQs

Pre and post-natal fitness training includes exercises and guidance that assist in educating and preparing women at all stages of pregnancy, including those before, during, and after birth. It helps you understand what is healthy for you and, conversely, what should be avoided to help safeguard the health of both mother and child.

Prenatal Exercise:

Prenatal exercise consists of mild to moderate workouts done during pregnancy to enhance flexibility, muscle tone, and one’s perception of self-worth.

Post-natal Exercise:

Post-natal workouts aid in the restoration of muscle strength and the firming of the body. It will make you feel less tired, increasing your energy level and boosting your sense of well-being. It encourages weight loss, improves cardiovascular fitness and physical strength, and enhances abdominal muscles.

Pregnant women who consider pre and postnatal personal training receive numerous benefits:

  • Maintaining a healthy weight. Being active will help you gain and lose weight easily.
  • Assist with recovery and getting in shape after childbirth.
  • Training for endurance, resistance, and stamina to aid the labour process.
  • Strengthens your core to allow for quicker abdominal muscle recovery and prevent a ‘belly pooch.’
  • Minimise your chances of developing postnatal health issues such as high blood pressure, bladder control issues, and gestational diabetes.
  • Reduce pain in the back, pelvis, joints, headaches, constipation, bloating, swelling, and other problems.
  • Improve your muscle tone and strength, which will help you in everyday tasks.
  • Boost your overall well-being by having better sleep,  mood, and energy levels. According to studies, exercise during pregnancy greatly reduces depression symptoms.
  • Another study discovered that 20 minutes of moderate exercise at least three times a week during pregnancy promotes the fetus’s brain development.
Discussing exercise with your obstetrician-gynaecologist (ob-gyn) during your early prenatal appointments is vital. If your ob-gyn gives you permission to exercise, you can talk to your personal trainer and get started.

If you are physically healthy, you can start your pre-natal training at any stage of your pregnancy.

However, It is advised that you wait until your 6-week postnatal check with your doctor before beginning post-natal training.

Pregnant women who follow a fitness routine advised by their female personal trainer in Singapore will notice various benefits, including

  • Improved circulation for both mother and baby.
  • Reduction in leg cramps, swelling, blood pooling, and water retention.
  • Less muscular and gastrointestinal discomfort.
